Update: NPR

Here’s the <a href=” http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=13871677 “_blank”>link</a>.

I’m posting it here because the page includes lots of fun stuff, including a link back to my recommendation of Jack Pendarvis’s book and my appearance on “Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me.”

(I just went back and read this and laughed at myself. Yes, “lots of fun stuff” = “lots of stuff about Laura.” Sorry about that. Really, it’s the extras, about Jack and those two duds who write for The Wire that makes the link worth following.)

  1. Wanted you to know that today you made me miss crab cakes. I used to live in DC and we would make the trip to Baltimore on Saturdays because it was a good way to spend the day.

I also got a little teary at “”A place doesn’t have to be perfect to be beloved…” What you said reminded me of things here in New Orleans, and how much I love it here. I really connected with what you were saying

Sorry to hear about the Rangers by the way… yikes.

  2. The link to the NPR page with all the links gave me a chance to catch up on all those interviews I had missed.

There were great trips down memory lane.

Your line about Baltimore directions given about landmarks that no longer exist was priceless.

    Thans.

  3. The Wire. I have become a crazed sidewalk preacher for The Wire, accosting strangers, pressing episodes into the hands of passersby, waiting for the appearance of Season Four (on DVD) while proclaiming the Coming of Season Five! Rejoice! Hallelujah! The Time Is Near!

  4. Thanks for the link and the tour and the memories of Haussner’s. I used to have a strawberry pie from there every year for my birthday instead of cake. I’ve never had a Fraidley’s crabcake so my next trip to Baltimore will be sad because there is no Haussner’s strawberry pie but happy because I will get to try a new crabcake.

The links were fun. I enjoyed reading the “interview” of Tess, although last night’s record setting performance may give a clue to the answer to the last question: “Do you think the Orioles are ever going to get it together? One World Series in my lifetime. It’s so depressing.”
