The Tour, Again

Beth Tindall, who maintains my website, has some pressing stuff behind-the-scenes, and the update has been delayed. So I’m publishing it here until Beth catches up.

(P.S. I’m very flattered when people inquire — “Why not . . .?” But it’s really unlikely that any location will be added this spring. Unless you’re from Hawaii, and have a good gig for me. To understand why Hawaii gets special treatment, go to the archives at www.lauralippman.com and look for an entry called “North Dakota Ho.”

  1. Laura,

New book looks great! Best of luck with it. But a 5 AM book signing? The Harry Potter midnight release parties have nothing on you. Here’s hoping you catch all those early commuters and give them something better to read than the paper on the way to work.

    Andy Straka
(who’ll be speaking at the MWA mid-Atlantic meeting on March 11 and will also be stopping by Book Crossing on March 20…..but NOT at 5 AM….I’m lucky if I can find the bathroom at 5 AM)

  2. Laura, email me with any questions you’d like lobbed at you if you’re taking questions at the Lancaster event. And any other support you’d like for the thing.

  3. Cindy — lovely to hear from you. I will email you, but for now, the first question that comes to mind is: “Could you explain, in detail, how you became so fabulous and why buying multiple copies of your new book has been shown to help people lose weight, battle sleep disorders and generally feel better about life?”

  4. Drat! No Florida! ah well, I’ll see you in October.

And this is a great idea.

5 am??? I wish I could be a fly on the wall to see you signing books at 5 am! :)

  5. So Fab!
Although, Laura, I don’t think Fab is what you became, rather that other people began to notice what you already were.
I’m trying to schedule business in the midatlantic so I can be at Brunswick. Dawn on the Potomac is really beautiful, particularly there at the Montgomery and Frederick county lines. Just imagine Jubal Early and his men crossing the river at dawn.

  6. Jack,

I’m working on a social visit to Oxford. My only concern is that all my friends there are so abstemious, it’s my understanding that I will have to smuggle my own alcohol in and drink alone . . .

    June,

The Sykesville store is great. I’ve been really impressed by the community support.

  7. Oh! I was about to ask “why not Seattle?” because last I checked, California was as West Coast as you got on this tour. However — your LOVELY WONDERFUL AGENT booked you at MY LIBRARY. (So, so sorry for the shouting. I’m overexcited.) I will see you on the 18th and if you want to have a homecooked dinner, it’d be 5 minutes (by foot) from the library.

  8. If you get a chance while you are in Seattle and you haven’t already been there, visit the main building of the public library. It has been considered controversial but I think that it is quite marvelous and very worth a stop. It’s very unPratt-like, but still wonderful.

  9. You know what’s nice? So far, I’ve heard from people on almost every leg of this tour, so I know that at least one person will be in the audience wherever I go.

So let’s make a rule: If only one person shows up, we go straight to a bar or restaurant.
