Also, Printer’s Row in Chicago in June and Harrogate Crime Writing Festival in July.
But of course the highlight of the tour will be your stop in Ann Arbor, the greatest city in the world…mostly.
Goodness Laura that’s some schedule, I hope you survive it.
Seriously though are going to make Bouchercon in Anchorage this year? I’d love to be in the line for your signing. And to try to entice you just a little bit, Dana and her SinC crew throw a helluva party.
Sly
I definitely plan to be in Anchorage (state #49.) As for the “mainstream” appeal that Sarah noted — HarperCollins works more and more with libraries. There are several reasons for this. One: HC has the AMAZING Virginia Stanley, a library liasion. Would you believe that some major publishers don’t have a comparable person? Two: Libraries have budgets of their own, so the more library gigs, the more costs are defrayed.
Definitely will see you at Chicago’s Printers Row in June. (With luck, the snow and subzero windchills may be gone by then!
)
It is my first Mardi Gras … and honestly I can’t think of a way to describe it. Dash and I paraded with Krewe of Barkus (I know you would like that) and last night I went to my first BIG parade — I was a bead catching fiend!
I hope you can come down soon! I look forward to reading New Orleans Noir, and of course passing on a very autographed copy to my Dad
I think you’ll enjoy the Thurber Event in Columbus. They do a nice job, and you should have a good crowd on hand. Looking forward to seeing you there.
Laura, what is state #50? I hope you get to it on this tour or soon, one way or the other.
And will you have a tour blog for those of us who enjoyed last year’s?
Sweet, Daedalus is right by me. (Since moving here, I have redefined “right by me,” but it’s close by any stretch of the imagination–it’s the second closest bookstore.)
You should come on Coffee With… on WJZ’s morning show. I don’t produce it (sigh) but if you’d be interested, I know who to talk to.
I see nothing for NOLA and I am sad
Marika,
I got up at 6 a.m. to put SO and stepson on plane to NOLA, so imagine how sad I am. I can’t believe I’m missing Mardi Gras.
Wouldn’t you like to come to beautiful North Carolina? I’d love to meet you.
I know you probably don’t have much input into it. (bummer)
See you at P&P in DC on March 28th.
Will see you in West Chester on March 31. Have only been to that area for soccer tournaments and a film festival that Keith Snyder was in.
HURRAY that you will be at the LA Times Festival of Books! See you there!
I’m marking March 20 on my calendar!!!
See you at the Va. Book Fest, Laura. Looking forward to it.
(Melodie: Bob Morris and I may kidnap her and haul her back to NC with us. I’ll let you know)
I’ll see you at Eat! Drink! in Edwards, CO.
Drink! is my neighborhood wine shop anyway, it’s 6 minutes from my house, and it’s actually a somewhat work related event* so it would probably be harder to miss the occassion than to attend.
*See http://www.evld.org and scroll down to “Author Event.” (I work at the local public library and we are looking into doing more collaborative things with the Bookworm and this is sort of an initial effort to see how we might work together.)
I’ve already arranged to switch hours with my boss so that I can be at the Tattered Cover event on March 20th. Kathi and I will see you there!
See you at Black Orchid, and there’s definitely a more, I dunno, “mainstream” feel about this tour. Love all the library and festival appearances.
Bummer that you won’t be in SF, but YAY that you will be at the LAT thing!!!
Kelly,
I’ve done WJZ multiple times, so we’ll see. However, I hope you’ll consider coming to the launch at the Pratt, or the Pages event at the Pikesville Library.
As for the secret tour blog . . . I might do it again. We’ll see.
The Pratt one is definitely doable, but I work Friday nights so Pages is out.
What’s going on at those events? Are they signings or readings/signings?
Kelly,
The Pratt event will probably be a talk/reading. I don’t like to read too much — I find it static and, unless one is a spectacular reader (Richard Price comes to mind), a bit boring for the audience.
I think, in the case of this book, I’m going to end up talking about the distinction I try to make between being inspired by true events and ripping things from the headlines. I might also cop to how personal the book is. I could say more, but then the talk would be boring, too!
Yeah, but here’s the thing–I’ve heard you talk about your books two years in a row, so I know better. You’re one of the few people that can get me away from the TV on Thursday nights. (My love for The Office and especially Grey’s Anatomy borders on the obsessive.)
And I should have the book done by then, so that’ll be good too.
I forgot to add, Eat! in Edwards, Co has the most fabulous choclate bars-expensive but fabulous, worth every penny and calorie.
Is there a parking lot for the Pratt thing or is it street parking? (I have not mastered the art of parallel parking yet.)
Kelly, it’s street parking, but there are several garages within walking distance.
Ok this OFFICIALLY SUCKS. I didn’t get to see you LAST time you were here. NOW you aren’t scheduled to BE here. Heads are gonna ROLL, dammit.
What, no Maine dates? Everyone loves Maine in March: all the mud, the once white snow is brown, you still have to go out and warm the car up, there’s still some ice on the roads – it’s beautiful! Oh man, no author will ever want to come here.
In terms of official (aka, someone elsy is paying) touring, I’ve never even been to Boston!
