What the Dead Know is on this list. I will make it clickable later this morning.

Is anyone else hating the weather this summer as much as I am?

Congratulations to Laura, who has a deserved slot on this list, but no list of the 100 best thrillers ever can be complete without Edgar Allan Poe.
Baltimore, represent!
As a runner, this summer weather is really cramping my style. I am slow as molasses in thie wet heat.
LL, congrats as always on the deserved recognition you continue to attract.
I voted for you, but that’s a pretty lousy list. Too many apples-and-oranges. But you get my vote, hon. And nine more.
I voted for WTDK (of course!)but it’s a bit of a bummer that the list is in alphabetical order and so WTDK is so far down.
Looking over the list, I realized that I love to read crime novels, but the “suspense” genre generally leaves me cold. I like well-written books which is why I really like yours. I agree with Nance. It really is an apples and oranges thing. Stephen King is a very different writer than you. I actually prefer you even though Stephen King is hugely popular. Just my two cents! Looking forward to reading your newest one. However, also looking forward to another Tess!
THE GIRL IN THE GREEN RAINCOAT, a Tess novella, will be published in January 2011. If you didn’t read it in the Times, it’s new to you! And the afterword is new.
I voted for WTDK, and it really is my favorite book from what I have read on that list.
This summer is wearing on me. Seriously.

NYTimes reports today that amateur weather historian says record-hot Julys often are followed by cooler-than-average Augusts. Fingers crossed!
