LS: Another 48 Hours

I have an event at A Likely Story Books in Sykesville tonight and then I have two entire days without any appearances, the first time since March 10 that I will have this much time off.

Then I hit the road for seven straight days, with events scheduled for every day but April 8, a travel day. Stops during that week of travel include Cumberland, Pittsburgh, El Paso, Phoenix, Houston and Charleston. There are still a few “one offs” after I return home from Charleston and even a weekend at the Lake Austin Spa.

However, I want to promote one appearance in the Baltimore-Washington area. This Saturday, I’ll be speaking at the Chesapeake Chapter’s Sisters in Crime meeting, which is open to the public. You can find complete details <a href=”http://www.chessiechapter.org/ “>here</a>. I am very proud of our local chapter, which includes award winners/nominees such as Donna Andrews, Marcia Talley, Daniel Stashower, Maria Lima, Carla Coupe — I am almost certain to have overlooked many others. The chapter also has produced three short story anthologies.

  1. I didn’t know the SIC event was open to the public; that’s great news. Unfortunately, it is at the same time as the annual Potomac Clean Up, where we marvel at the number of truck tires, 55 gallon drums of teratogenic substances, and dishwashers that have somehow entered that pristine body of water. If I can get hosed off between events I’d love to see you.

Apropos of nothing in particular, other than I remembered to post it, I saw that at the end of last week Politics and Prose had LS listed at #5 on fiction list (the list comes out on Thursdays). Not sure what drives that data (in-store sales? Great hair day for the author during same week book signing?), but it was nice to see such a high (low?) number. Ultimately I guess this cross-threads to “Is Touring Worth It?” and similar thread/s.

That is certainly an interesting itinerary–but one that sounds as if it should provide for a lot of good Tex-Mex, or maybe just Mex, opportunities!

  2. It was on the wall at #5 when I arrived, so I am guessing that the P&P list was not influenced by my hair. Which is good, as I would then have a much lower number!

By the way, I am taking brownies to my Sykesville event tonight, but I don’t have enough for everyone . . .

  3. Today there was a big Chesapeake Sisters in Crime announcement on the DC Web Women’s blog, Donna Andrews is a member. i seconded it and put in MP and Facebook sites.
