Coppin State

<a href=”http://www.themorningnews.org/archives/the_rooster/the_2008_tournament_of_books.php”_blank”> Coolness.</a>

And if you can explain the title entry of this blog — and you really shouldn’t Google — I might send you a book, but in interest of full disclosure: I have yet to make it to the post office after an entire week of trying. Eudora Welty wrote “Why I Live at the P.O.” I would have to write: “Why I Can Never Get My Sorry Self into the P.O. That is a Half-Mile from My House.”

Speaking of Welty: <a href=”http://art-bin.com/art/or_weltypostoff.html”_blank”> For your reading pleasure.</a>

ETA: Dave White got it. But if I can’t get Dave White to shell out cash for my books, I’m doomed.

I confess-I Googled for the year but just for the year-but are you likening WTDK in this tournament to the Coppin State Eagles in the NCAA basketball tournament in 1997? IMHO, you are underrating WTDK, it is not nearly the underdog that Coach Fang’s Eagles were and will go farther. (But I still remember the heartbreak of the 1 point loss in the 2nd round.)

  2. This is where the Memory Project earns its name. I was shocked to see Diane say it was a one-point game — I remembered the Eagles playing poorly. But she’s right, this 15th-seed lost by one point to Texas.

By the way, Dave White asked that I send his copy to Sean Bannon, a soldier injured recently in Iraq and now recoveirng at Walter Reed. I am very happy to do just that. You can find out more about Sean at Dave’s blog: http://jacksondonne.blogspot.com/

  3. To be sure, I think I’m going down FAST. But I think it’s an honor to be included.

Plus, any contest named for the Rooster is a contest I have to love. (The “Rooster” pieces are among my favorites in DRESS YOUR FAMILY IN CORDUROY AND DENIM)
