Folks, this shaping up to be kind of a crappy week. Now we’ve lost <a href=” http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/local/broward/sfl-0307-barbara-parker-obituary,0,6774778.story “>Barbara Parker</a>.
It’s not my story to tell, but I know Barbara was the person who was there for a friend of mine in recent years. And she was just a delightful lady.
Bummer. I used to read her books along with Edna Buchanan and Carl Hiaasan for that south Florida flavor.
This is heartbreaking news, she was sparkly and managed to combine mystery and personality and law humorously and accurately, which is so rarely accomplished.
Barbara Parker has a story in the new Mystery Writers of America anthology, THE PROSECUTION RESTS, which will be out next month. Publishers Weekly called “A Clerk’s Life,” her story, “deliciously creepy.”
I was so sorry to hear this news.
